What data we process and why

When you visit our website, contact us, or sign up for our newsletter, we only process the information that’s necessary for leuK.world to function properly — or the information you choose to share with us.

We use your data only for the purposes listed below and never for anything else. We don’t sell your data and only share it with trusted partners who help us provide our services.

  • When you visit our website: We collect information about how you use our website. We do this through cookies and Google Analytics. This helps us improve and secure the site. We keep this information for up to 14 months.

  • When you sign up for our newsletter: We ask for your name and email address so we can send you updates. We sometimes check whether emails are opened or clicked, so we can understand what’s most relevant to readers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

  • When you contact us: We use your name, contact details, and message only to respond to your question. We keep this information for up to one year after our last contact.

  • When you make a donation or join an activity: We use your details to process your payment or arrange your participation. Sometimes we need to keep information for legal reasons (for example, accounting).

  • When you view social media or videos on our site: Some parts of our website come from other platforms, such as YouTube or Instagram. These platforms may place cookies or collect information when you view their content. This only happens if you’ve given permission first.

Cookies en tracking

We use cookies to make our website work properly and to keep improving it. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device. Some cookies are needed to make the site work technically, while others help us understand how visitors use the site or allow videos and social media content to be shown.

When you first visit our website, we ask for your permission to use non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time in the cookie settings.

Types of cookies we use:

  • Necessary cookies: Make sure the website works correctly and stays secure.
  • Marketing cookies: Allow YouTube videos and social media posts to be displayed (only after you give consent).

We use Google Analytics in a privacy-friendly way, without cookies or personal identification. Only anonymous data — such as visited pages and country of origin — helps us improve our website. We have disabled all advertising features, user IDs and tracking.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the website may not work as well if you do.

Newsletter

You can sign up for our newsletter through a secure email service based in the European Union.

When you sign up, you give us permission to send you emails. We use your name and email address only for this purpose.

We track whether emails are opened or if links are clicked. This helps us improve our content and understand what readers find interesting. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of each email. After you unsubscribe, we delete your information. We do not share this data with anyone else.

Contact

If you send us a message by email or through a form, we use your information only to reply to you. We keep your name, email address, and message for up to one year after our last response. Sometimes we may need to keep it a little longer if required by law or to finish an open matter. You can always ask us to delete your information by emailing privacy@leuK.world.

Young people

leuK.world is for everyone — including young people who want to learn, explore, and take part. We believe it’s important that everyone feels safe here.

If you’re under 16, please check with your parent or guardian before signing up for our newsletter or contacting us.

We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 without parental consent. If this has happened by mistake, please email us at privacy@leuK.world. We’ll delete the information as soon as possible.

Who we share data with

We only share your data with partners who help us run leuK.world — never to sell it.

Our regular partners:

  • Technical services: Hetzner Online in Germany (within the EU).
  • Communication services: MailerLite (EU-based, uses SCCs for sub-processors).
  • Analytics and media: Google, YouTube, Meta, and LinkedIn (under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework).

We make clear agreements with all these partners to keep your data well protected. Want the most up-to-date list of our partners? Email us at privacy@leuK.world.

Transfers outside the EU

Some of our partners are located outside the European Union. We only share data when it’s necessary and make sure it’s protected just as well as within Europe — either through the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by using Standard Contractual Clauses.

How we protect your data

We use a secure connection (HTTPS) and reliable hosting in Germany. Only team members of Stichting leuKmakers who truly need access can view your information. We keep track of who has access and follow an internal data breach procedure. If something goes wrong and your privacy could be at risk, we’ll report it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority — and to you, if needed. We continuously work to improve our security measures.

Your rights

You have several rights over your personal data. We want you to know what they are and how to use them.

  • Access: you can ask what information we have about you.
  • Correction: if something is wrong, you can ask us to fix it.
  • Deletion: you can ask us to delete your information.
  • Restriction: you can ask us to limit how we use your data for a while.
  • Objection: you can object if you disagree with how we use your data.
  • Portability: you can ask us to send your data to you or to another party.

You can find an explanation of how to use your rights here.

Want to use any of these rights? Email us at privacy@leuK.world. We’ll respond within 30 days. If we need more time, we’ll let you know. We may ask for extra information to confirm your identity. This helps us keep your data safe.

Future updates

We keep improving leuK.world step by step. If we add new features, we’ll always check what that means for your privacy and update this statement if needed. We’ll stay open and clear about how we handle your data.

Questions or complaints

Do you have a question or complaint about how we handle your information? Email us at privacy@leuK.world — we’ll reply as soon as possible (within 30 days at the latest).

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority or, if you live outside The Netherlands, your local privacy regulator.

We may update this document from time to time. The most recent version will always be published on our website. We recommend that you review this document periodically.
